Internet: Meet Your New Processor. RimuHosting's Nehalem or Westmere Servers

Looking for the fastest CPU possible?  Intel's released the Nehalem CPUs in March 2009. These CPUs have been setting new performance benchmarks and getting rave reviews.

Guru tech site Anandtech says:

[Nehalem CPUs have] created a giant tsunami in the server world. The Xeon 5570 doubles the performance of its predecessor in applications that matter to more than 80% of the server market. With native quad-core, fast interconnects between the CPUs, a shared L3 cache that allows faster cache coherency synchronization, and an integrated memory controller. For the IT professional in these difficult economic times, the new generation of server CPUs are an excellent investment.

The Nehalem servers come with:

Core 2 Duo/Quad Servers

Looking for a powerful workhorse? It is hard to go past a Core 2 Duo/Quad server.  They consume very little power, so they run cool and reliable.  And benchmarks on sites like Anandtech and TomsHardware put their performance ahead of any of the previous Pentium 'D' servers, as well as almost all AMD CPUs.

The servers are custom built for us by the great guys over at rackmountsetc and have the following spec:

• Choice of two server pricing plans (Model A and Model B). Model A supports up to 4GB of memory, 2 disks, Model B is a bit more flexible and supports up to 8GB of memory, up to 4 disks, a quad core CPU.
• Choice of Intel Core 2 CPUs including the dual core E4400, E4500, E4600 and E6420 CPUs and (on the Model B plan) the high end, quad core Q6600
• Supermicro PDSMI+ Mainboard (DDR-2, SATAII, max 8GB of mem) or PDSBM-LN2 Mainboard (DDR-2, SATAII, max 2GB of mem)
• Seagate or Western Digital SATA drives. The latest drives have huge 32MB caches for best performance.
• Options to use the screamingly fast Intel X25-M SSD or 10K RPM VelociRaptor disk drives.
• 1U Supermicro case (either SC813MT-300C 300W, 4xSATA Hotswap or SC512L-260, 260W, Fixed 2 HDD Bays)

Harpertown Xeon Dedicated Servers

For the ultimate in performance, try one of our Xeon servers.  They have:

Intel Solid State Disks or 10K RPM Velociraptor

Got a disk IO intensive application? e.g. a busy database? Each of our Dallas-based dedicated servers comes with Intel SSD and Velociraptor 10K RPM disks. The Intel SSDs are one of the mostly highly regarded SSD's on the market. And are perfect for lowering disk response times and maxing out your read/write rates.

• 12.5% GST will be added for New Zealand customers.
• Payment Methods: We accept all major credit cards and PayPal.  We also accept automatic bank payments from New Zealand based customers.  Customers not in New Zealand can send us funds via wire transfer.  You can request any of these methods during the order signup process.
• Some credit card issuers (not all) taking a 1-3% 'foreign transaction fee' in addition to the amount we bill (even when the amount is that cardholders native currency).

Prepayment Discounts

You can prepay your hosting if you wish.  Just let us know when you wish to do that.  If you prepay 12 months we will add an extra month for no extra cost on our VPS plans.  If you already host with us, just pop in a support ticket and tell us you wish to prepay for 12 months.  If you are about to put in a new order, just tell us you wish to prepay for 12 months on the order confirmation page.

Discounts for Multiple VPSs

If you have a VPS with us and then order another one, ask us on the order confirmation page to drop $10 from the setup fee and discount the monthly fee by 10%.  This offer does not apply to dedicated servers.
