Give your ideas somewhere to run. Configurable Linux VMs and dedicated servers in Auckland, Sydney, Dallas, London and Frankfurt — with support from working sysadmins, not a call centre.
We’ve been deploying virtual servers since early 2003 - before AWS existed. Nearly every other pioneer from that era has sold out. RimuHosting remains owner-operated: each person assisting you has a stake in you staying happy.
No pushy sales staff, no outsourced help desk, honest resourcing — and a founder you can still phone.
Most hosts sell you a grid of plans. We don’t have fixed plans — you choose the memory and disk you need, the data centre, the distro, IPs, and optionally a control panel (Virtualmin, cPanel, or Plesk). Resources change whenever you need, from the control panel, with a pricing preview before you commit.
Prefer a whole machine? Dedicated servers run on the same virtualisation stack — every gigabyte of memory, disk and IO yours, RAID as standard, and you can slice the box into as many VMs as fit. Dedicated servers →
Distros: Debian, Ubuntu, Arch, AlmaLinux and the Red Hat family; optional Virtualmin, cPanel or Plesk. Free memory upgrades, self-service data-centre moves, rescue boot, weekly image backups and a full DNS suite come with the panel — everything the control panel does →
Auckland, Sydney, Dallas, London and Frankfurt — with local-currency pricing in each region (NZD, AUD, USD, GBP, EUR). Most of our servers are hardware we purchased, running a Xen virtualization stack we built from the ground up, racked in cabinets we lease, connected to switches we own, on networks we operate. We’re not a reseller: if something goes wrong, we’re the ones who fix it.
Our latest servers are typically a Supermicro chassis with enterprise AMD EPYC processors, ECC memory, and blazingly fast NVMe drives. They're connected to Cisco Nexus switching. We’ve run co-location operations since 2003 across 18 different data centres — and at peak we managed one client’s fleet of over 1,000 servers across 100 cabinets. We know our way around a rack.
Our support queue is where we help take the hassle out of hosting. Over the years we've compiled quite the dossier of feedback from clients. Here are a few:
“The BBC are hosting their cutting edge projects at Rimu, and we’re very happy with the service.”
“Thank you and your staff for the service for the last 19 years… your support and service has been impeccable.”
“Having a server with you is like having a brilliant sysadmin with good manners employed!”
“I have measured hosting down-time on a number of New Zealand hosting companies and found that the up-time is orders of magnitude better on [your] services.”
“As one of the more established New Zealand hosting companies, [RimuHosting] have built their service around providing deep technical expertise and hands-on, sysadmin-level support, which is a significant differentiator.”
The great thing about our servers, is you can build almost anything with them. But when lots of customers share a need, we'll often build a managed solution for it. Same team, same data centres, same support queue.
